Choose Mumble Aloud for short puzzles in which you retrieve an answer and say it. Choose Duolingo when you want a language course and a broader practice routine. They can serve different parts of the same learning habit.
Duolingo already asks learners to speak
Duolingo documents several speaking activities, including translation, dialogue and spoken recall. Its Practice hub also offers focused skills practice, including speaking, for free across courses on iOS and Android. A comparison should not imply that all speaking is paid or that the app only lets you tap answers.
Individual activity availability still matters. A platform-wide feature announcement does not show that every dialogue format or advanced tool is available in Czech. In particular, the languages listed in Duolingo’s current Video Call article do not include Czech. Check the course and device you intend to use.

What a spoken puzzle adds
In Mumble Aloud’s Number Grid, you count place-value shapes and say the quantity. Memory Grid asks you to recall pictures after they are hidden. Sound Source asks what made a sound, while Match Deck asks you to connect a prompt picture with an answer card.
Those clues give recall a particular shape. A player who knows a word still needs to retrieve it after counting, remembering or making a connection. If that is the activity you enjoy, Mumble Aloud provides a focused reason to speak. It does not prove superior retention to a course, and it does not supply the same breadth of lessons.
An adult can use Czech answers for a small recall session. A family can select a familiar language and take turns solving the clues. The current release supports English, Czech and Italian answers with English menus; this comparison describes that released version.
What a course adds
When you need new vocabulary, sentence patterns and a continuing sequence of language practice, choose a course or teaching resource around those needs. Duolingo is a more relevant starting point for that wider routine than a collection of four puzzles.
You can also combine roles: learn a small set of words with your course, try retrieving familiar answers out loud, and bring them back into sentences or conversation. This is a suggested practice routine, not a tested learning result. There is no automatic connection between Mumble Aloud stages and Duolingo lessons.
Recognition is not the same as conversation assessment
Mumble Aloud checks expected spoken answers using Apple’s speech services. A miss can reflect the selected language, permissions, background sound or device conditions. The app does not provide a detailed pronunciation score or assess an open-ended conversation.
If your goal is feedback on longer Czech speech, examine that capability specifically when choosing a tool or a teacher. An app offering speech recognition somewhere in its catalogue does not establish that it provides that feedback for Czech.
Mumble Aloud’s current release is free with no in-app purchases. Fully offline recognition is not guaranteed on every device and language. Check Duolingo’s current course, free practice tools and optional paid plans before deciding how to build your routine.
